We are all born. And our frontman Jeffrey Thunders is having a bash at Cafe 9 in New Haven, Ct on March 15th. What a huge lineup.
Formed in the spring of 2012 The Lost Riots have been winning people over with a sound that one fan explained as " The Replacements meets Black Flag" No frills or whistles here The Lost Riots play straight up garagey punk rock reminiscent of bands that started the whole punk rock movement with a mixture of lo-fi in your face garage rock.

This saturday we travel back to Bridgeport ct to Two Boots to play an Oddball Productions show with Bella Morte and The Theatre Zombies.
Bella Morte ( from the facebook bio) :Bella Morte sings songs of love and loss, hope and despair. By combining electronics, graveyard ballads, emotive storytelling and unique guitar riffs, Bella Morte have developed a style that is solely their own. They have released 2 EPs and 7 full-length albums, the latest (titled “Before the Flood”) released in 2011 by Metropolis Records. As the band continues to tour the world and write new material, they remain eternally thankful to have been able to make a living doing what they love: singing songs about the dead and winning over the hearts of the living along the way. www.bellamorte.com
The Theatre Zombies (facebook bio): Horror themed Hard Rock & Punk created The Theatre Zombies. The horror rock trio from Noroton Heights Connecticut pride themselves on writing fast and fun songs that stretch past the niche and speak to a wide audience of people!www.facebook.com/TheTheatreZombies

Looking back at the show Saturday with West Rockers & Bamboo Kids i would have to say it was a success. Great crowd down at Elm Bar in New Haven. Good vibe over all between the bands and the crowd. here is a review that a local journalist student did for a class he is taking.
Tonight for my first of 2
concert reviews this semester I will be attending my first ever
Punk Rock show. It will be at Elm Bar in New Haven,
Connecticut featuring 3 bands and I am looking forward to it
since it’s not something I would typically go to. I’m always
happy to experience something new, this will be no exception.
I arrived at 8:56 for the 9:00 show. There was only a $3 cover charge. I shaved off my beard this weekend and was carded at the door. I know the baby face makes me look younger but whoa. I don't mind, oh to be 21 again. Anyhow, the show started right on time at 9:46. Smooth strategy on the bar's part I suppose. Get me to come early and get a few “diet cokes” on tap and spend my money before the music starts. Well played Elm Bar, well played. This is a 3 band show. Starting with The West Rockers. I've never seen any of the three bands so this will be a totally new experience for me. The lead singer is doing his best Scott Wilen impression. He doesn't have as much charisma as he thinks he does. I have to give him credit for working hard though. A bit of a screamer more so than a vocalist. Pretty young band, all the guys look under 30. It's hot as hell in here but they are wearing hoodies. Must be their look. Maybe it's me, I don't remember live music being this loud, I hope I can still hear by the time The Lost Riots come on last. They are playing their last song now. They look much looser. Maybe they were a little nervous being on first. This song is much less screaming, more vocals, good beat. They earned some extra points with the last song.
Time to pack up their gear, it's time for the Bamboo Kids. They are billed from New York City. Should be called Bamboo Men. I don't see any kids. They are doing their sound check now. The lead singer looks like James Hetfield of Metallica post haircut. Definitely more polished than the first group. Only 3 guys in the band, also notably older than the West Rockers. I can tell these guys are serious. Their equipment is much better and their sound is much more crisp and professional. Their second song was a tongue in cheek song about under age girls. I like the next one better though "Suck the Life Out of Me."
It's 11:00pm now. These guys are rockin’ pretty hard, the diet coke is flowing, now I remember why I went to so many live shows back from about 2003-2008. Good times. There's a pretty lady talking to me now as their set is winding down. I think she said her name was Laura. I got a little bummed when she said "oh my boyfriend's name is Matt too!" Denied....Bartender! Pour me another diet coke! Mmmmmmm.
I definitely like these Bamboo Kids. I asked my buddy Jeff about them, he books the bands. He said they are signed to a record deal. I'm definitely not surprised. On a side note, while I am talking to Jeff someone asked my why I keep taking notes. I casually mentioned I am here for work, I write for a little magazine called Rolling Stone. He seemed impressed, maybe he will leave me alone now.
The Bamboo Kids just wrapped up. The trio rocked pretty hard, well done. Definitely a solid performance. Now it's time for The Lost Riots to set up and and finish up a solid show.
In speaking with the Lost Riots before their set, I learned they actually played their first show together on March 30, 2012. Of the 4 band members, they are from New Haven, New Canaan, Fairfield & Milford respectively. Even though they are a new band, all 4 band members have been in multiple previous bands. They have a pretty good chemistry together. The Lost Riots though a relatively new band have a good fan following. I couldn't get my hands on a pin at their merchandise table, but I did manage to snag a CD of the set they were playing tonight. The band is comprised of drums, lead guitar, rhythm guitar and bass guitar. Vocals are split between two of the three guitar players.
The Lost Riots definitely are pretty cool guys. They have matching denim jackets cutoff at the sleeves. Of the 3 bands, The Lost Riots are definitely the most energized. I suspect they drank Coke Classic and they are experiencing a sugar rush. Either way, they seem to really be enjoying themselves. This is now their house. The lead singer makes up for his relatively small statute with his larger than life stage presence. I can almost watch him grow as he belts out note after note and pounding away at his guitar. Good songs, I like "Crown Street Blues." Also "Downtown" was a good one.
12:04am, the Lost Riots are wrapping up. They definitely put the exclamation point on the evening. Elm Bar has been rocked. And it was rocked hard. Overall, it was well worth the price of admission, I'd come see the Lost Riots & Bamboo Kids again.
Overall I enjoyed the show. The crowd although small, was very into the show, it seems I was probably the only newcomer. There was a lot of people talking to the bands catching up. Good to see the loyalty there. Starting with the West Rockers, I’d give them a grade of a C raised because of their last song pulling them up. Next up was the Bamboo Kids and I have to give them a B+. They were really good but lacked that something extra. They were talented enough to give just above average effort but still be very, very good. Lastly, I have to give the Lost Riots a slight edge over the Bamboo Kids with an A-. I say this because even though they aren’t as talented as the Bamboo Kids, they owned it the most. This was their house, they had swagger and really worked hard to put on a good show for their fans. It was definitely a fun show and a good time. The only crappy part, I stood too close to the bathrooms.......Other than that, good to go.
That’s a wrap from Elm Bar, Maybe for my next concert I’ll be as lucky to find some other local bands that work as hard as The Lost riots & Bamboo Kids.
